SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is used to confirm whether an e-mail message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the faking of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mailboxes using the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies whether it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet when it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will mask an email address to make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down list and to type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be permitted to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the best degree of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are managed in another place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and scam purposes.
